Getting ready for Tebow

Andrew works for Nike. One of the cool perks of working for them is you get to meet different athletes that train and visit there! Andrew loves Tim Tebow, and I think respects him a lot. Nike signed him recently, so Tim Tebow came out for his first visit. When Nike has an athlete out for the first time, they make a big deal about it. They had posters made, t-shirts for people to wear, even put those vinyl stickers up on the wall just for him. Andrew works at the fitness centers, so he was part of getting everything just right for him;)

Tebow asked as part of his visit to be able to spend some time throwing. So they needed people to catch...ANDREW!!! So he spent 45 minutes talking and catching for Tim Tebow! He was so excited all week getting ready for him, he even went to the park to practice. ;)

So on Wednesday, we went with some friends to the Sellwood farmer's market where we bought some strawberries and herbs to plant. (which are now destroyed from my boys....grrrr) Then we went over to a park and our friend, Ben, threw to him for quite a while. Here is Andrew showing off his moves!

The boys and I played on the play structure for a while, and then we went over and the boys played with them too.

Jakey spends about 1/2 of his time on the ground...he still falls quite a bit, his poor little knees and elbows...

Look at that sexy stud...go show Tebow what you've got!

Eating Local...

We recently watched Food, Inc. I feel like it was an eye-opening experience. One thing that stuck out to me was that every item you buy is really a vote you are sending to companies that you are supporting that product and all that goes into it. I have some good books to read, and still much to learn, but really want to try and be intentional about eating fresh, local foods. This is pretty easy in the summer, so what a good time to start! I'm looking forward to picking berries a lot with the kids to always have a fresh supply on hand, but also to freeze some for smoothies all year! My boys eat a lot of fruit, so I know they'll love going out and picking again this year...we eat more then we put in our bucket...but that's 1/2 the fun, right? ;) Tell me I'm not the only one...

It's not just about eating healthy food, because about 75% of the time, we do. But what goes into those "healthy" foods, what practices were used to raise and harvest them? Is it something I want to support?

I want to buy some grass-fed beef from someone around here, and maybe even a pig too. Obviously, not a WHOLE pig or cow, can you imagine? But I don't have a big freezer...so I'm going to have to be creative...any ideas?

This is kind of a random post, but just putting out some thoughts. I feel overwhelmed by this problem and the state of Americans and our food...and know I can't change everything, but I want to try and help my family to be the healthiest they can be, and to also support people who deserve it!

What about you? Are you doing things to live locally? Share some of your tips/links/ideas, I'd love to hear!

On the walls...

We finished up a few projects on Mother's Day. One day I came home to all my pictures on the wall taken down and filled up Sports Illustrated covers. I actually really liked the idea, just not my bare walls with nails sticking out! So, we got some more frames, and hung everything up. I think both projects look pretty good! And, we'll be able to add to both of them!

I'm just noticing how crooked some of those frames are already...can you guess why? lol

Andrew's favorite of course:)

Mother's Day...

We had a nice Mother's Day laying low as a family. I woke up with NO kids (they had a slumber party with Nana and Papa so we could have a night out), and breakfast in bed:) We went and picked up the boys and went over to the high school to some of their baseball fields. We had a picnic there and played for a few hours. I got my first sunburn of the season, but of course none of my Puerto Rican boys did! We had lots of running, laughing, and dirt that filled our afternoon. I guess that's how it is when you're a mom to boys!

Love that smile from my happy, busy boy!

Way to keep your eye on the ball, Noah!
Happy, happy, smiles!

Throwing water balloons never gets old:)
What a dad, teaching his son!

I love this progression with the pitch, the hit, and the duck...a line drive!

What a Dad!

Andrew has been planning on taking Noah to see a Yankee game in Seattle. He decided instead to take me there, and to take Noah to see a Beaver's game downtown! So, they rode Max down to the game this last week. Actually, they tried to ride Max, but it broke down part way there, so they turned around and headed back to the car and drove. But Noah loves trains, so that was apart of the adventure! What a great Dad to take his boy on such fun outing!

Picture Day...

Tomorrow is Noah's first school picture day. Of course he has a black eye. I figure this is just the first of many "imperfect" pictures we will get over the years with our two boys, and that's ok! In fact, I haven't even thought about his outfit for tomorrow, and I'm ok with that! :)

I got my hair cut tonight...and I don't really like it. It's too "Mommy" for me. I went to the same salon I normally do, but Andrew scheduled me a surprise appointment for Mother's Day with someone different. Such a nice surprise! I said I wanted it to be about shoulder length, something I could pull back for working out, and something trendy...this is what I got. I guess next time I'll be a little more specific. $45 later, I've learned my lesson...but it's hair, and it will grow.

In a funk...

I am in a funk these days...not really sure what's going on. Not depressed, just a funk. I need some sunshine, and no school, no work, just family, friends, and fun. Please come soon Mr. Sun...
